Where to Get Bait, Tackle & Fishing Gear in Englewood
If you’re fishing in Englewood, Manasota Key, Lemon Bay, or Boca Grande, you don’t need a ton of options — you just need the right ones at the right time.

Here’s the reality:
Englewood doesn’t have a huge number of dedicated bait shops anymore, but the ones that are here are strategically located and get the job done.

Most anglers rely on:
a couple true bait shops
a few marina-based options
and one late-night backup spot

You can get:
live shrimp year-round
frozen bait (mullet, sardines, squid, chum)
basic tackle and gear
Dearborn Corner Market

Live Bait
Live Shrimp
Live shrimp is easily the most important and reliable bait when fishing around Englewood, Lemon Bay, Manasota Key, and even up toward Boca Grande. Whether you’re targeting snook, redfish, trout, or sheepshead, live shrimp consistently outperforms most artificial options—especially for inshore and dock fishing. It’s versatile, easy to use, and works year-round, which is why both locals and visiting anglers depend on it.
If you’re unsure what to throw, starting with live shrimp is almost always the safest and most productive choice.

Because of that, knowing where to get live shrimp matters. The Bait House at Manasota Key Marina is your best all-around option for consistent supply, while Dearborn Corner Market is the go-to when you need bait later in the day. Stump Pass Marina and Skip’s Marina are convenient stops if you’re already on the water or heading south, and Gasparilla Marina is a solid backup if other places are out.
The key is to plan ahead—live shrimp can sell out quickly, especially on weekends—so getting there early or calling ahead can make the difference between a great fishing day and a frustrating one.
